Never take the word of just one art or Antique dealer. Always get a second opinion, unless you have positive past experience with one and you have built a relationship with them.
Beware of the many unscrupulous & perfidious Antique dealers. They are out there. They don't rip off everyone, just the people that don't know what they have, or what they want!
The "Lincoln in Dali Vision" was part of the great Dali art fraud in the 80s.
I did a lot of research and with the help of the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL.
and a great lady named Carrol I was able to find out all the facts. This Collectible turned out not to be a Collectible.

I have never charged anyone for an Antique appraisal because I love doing it and it is just good business! I can not apprise everything just by photos. Some Antiques need to be seen and touched.
Are you looking to sell an Antique or Collectible?
Finding a reputable and honest Antique dealer for your Antique, Rare or Vintage item can be frustrating. How do you know who to trust?
1st. Find an Antique dealer who will do a free appraisal. Tell them it is for insurance purposes. This appraisal will be 5-10% higher than the actual value of the Antique. Antique appraisals for insurance are always slightly higher than the true value of your Antique. It's been done for years. If there is a loss of an insured Antique you receive the value of your item plus future value.
If you have insured Antiques, Collectibles, Old & Rare items, update your policy every 3-4 years
or as necessary to keep your Antique future value updated.
Remember, if you're willing to pay the insurance premium you can insure almost anything. Even a $100.00 Antique for $1000.00.
2nd. Ask your Antique dealer what he/she would purchase the item for. You can then approximate the value of your Antique within a few dollars.
3rd. Ask your Antique dealer what they would sell the item for. The price or value should be close to your approximation that you arrived at for your Antique.
4th. When it comes to selling, never seem or act desperate to sell your Antique or Collectible! Desperation shows that you will take a lower price for your Antique and in turn you will not receive the value of your Antique. Say you're interested or curious about the value of your antique or Collectible.
So even if you are desperate, don't show it!
5th. Research your Antique or Collectible. Many online sites can with a few clicks of your mouse give you valuable Imformation about your Antique or Collectible. Look for history as well as a value or price. The more you know about your Antique, the more you will know about the purchase of sales price.
6th. Value. The dictionary describes value as:
"the worth, desirability, or utility of a thing, or the qualities on which these depend"
The key word here is, Desirability! We all have items in our home that are desirable to us and maybe not to our fellow Antique collector. Antiques and heirlooms that have been in your/my family for generations may not have any value to anyone but us.
Value is only a guide to help determine a reasonable price to an item.
If you have an Antique that is valued at $100.00
it does not necessarily mean you will receive $100.00 at the time you sell that item. You may receive more!
Remember, it's only what the market will bear.
